Sar’s love for photography began at age 9, when her father tasked her with documenting their family trip to New Hampshire on the family’s 35mm Minolta Weathermatic, spurring a lifelong obsession and love of storytelling through images. From there, Sar began to experiment with taking photos, first on 35mm and later on venturing into digital photography & video. She spent her teenage years gaining work experience by assisting her brother, an accomplished Art Director and filmmaker, on film shoots and art projects as well as interning for magazine publications such as Rollingstone Indonesia and Trax.
In 2009, she moved from Indonesia to Sydney to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Digital Media at UNSW. She then went on to work for creative & advertising agencies in content production and content management roles, always using her love of art and photography as a foundation to anchor her creativity. In 2015 Sar went into freelance work, shooting models in development for prestigious agencies across Australia including Chadwick Models, Vivien’s Model Management, Neon & Chic Management. She has also worked as Creative Director & Assistant Art Director on various large-scale campaigns for prestige beauty brands, including Erha Dermatology and L’Oreal Paris Asia.
A creative visionary at heart, Sar is able to deliver client briefs through a multimodal approach that includes digital, medium format film and video. Her comprehensive understanding of both digital and analogue processes results in a unique and highly organic aesthetic.
When she is not behind a camera, Sar enjoys reading, hand-building pottery and spending time with her 2 children, her partner and their 2 dogs + cat.
